Zusammenfassung:FIELD: manufacturing processes in machine engineering, namely measuring force and geometry characteristics at investigating laws of transient processes of intermittent cutting. ^ SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of registering force acting upon tool from side of cut blank with use of strain gage device. Said device includes attachment for performing intermittent cutting, tool holder-load cell provided with strain gages and strain-gage amplifier. Relative position of tool and blank in zone of their interaction at different time moments of repeating cutting cycles is photographed by means of digital camera with large focus distance at using pulse light source. Personal computer is used for displaying on monitor characteristics measured by means of strain gages and for controlling time period of making photograph. Light pulse of light source is irradiated according to preset time moment of photographing and registering force action upon tool. ^ EFFECT: possibility for establishing correspondence between force and geometry characteristics of transient processes of cutting operation. ^ 12 dwg, 1 ex
