Zusammenfassung: | FIELD: industrial inorganic synthesis. ^ SUBSTANCE: synthesis is accomplished via gas-phase conversion of carbon tetrachloride at elevated temperature (250-400°C) in presence of catalyst and chlorine acceptor. Catalyst contains 0.5 to 5.9% copper in the form of copper metal or cuprous or cupric chloride deposited on oxide carrier, and chlorine acceptor is methane. Conversion is conducted at carbon tetrachloride-to-methane molar ratio 1:(1-2.5).
