FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology, medicine. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention relates to (DL)-1-hydroxy-3,7,7,9,9-pentamethyl-1,4,8-triazaspiro[4,5]decane-2-one of the formula (1) . ^ Also, invention describes a method for preparing this compound by treatment of DL-alanine hydroxamic acid with ketone wherein aminoketone - 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-4-one is used as ketone, and process is carried out in benzene medium in the mole ratio of reagents: alpha-aminohydroxamic acid : aminoketone = 1:1.1 followed by isolation of the end product.
