Zusammenfassung:FIELD: metallurgy. ^ SUBSTANCE: apparatus has reservoir of rectangular section, variable current electromagnet comprising coil and winding around said coil, to which alternate current is supplied, and coolers for melted metal. Reservoir has elongated side, short side and bottom with slot-type opening, and is adapted for melted metal. Electromagnet core is positioned adjacent to reservoir outer side surface between auxiliary reservoirs and chambers. Ladle-shaped auxiliary reservoirs are positioned on outer peripheral surface of main reservoir. Temporary reservoirs are designed for temporary holding of melted metal flowing over top part of reservoir. Chambers are positioned on the outer side of reservoir along its elongated sides and communicated therewith through slot-type discharge openings inclined at predetermined angle with respect to reservoir. Apparatus is further equipped with auxiliary pipes for connecting said chambers with auxiliary reservoirs. Coolers are positioned adjacent to short side outer surfaces of lower part of reservoir for formation of hardening metal layers inside reservoir in the vicinity of short sides of its lower part. Method involves supplying alternate current to electromagnet coil for creating of electromagnetic force in reservoir in direction opposite to gravitational force. ^ EFFECT: increased efficiency and optimized operation of apparatus. ^ 19 cl, 15 dwg
