Zusammenfassung:FIELD: inorganic compounds technology. ^ SUBSTANCE: cubic boron nitride employed in tool-making industry is prepared as follows. A blend is first prepared from hexagonal BN, cubic BN crystals, and a process-activating additive, for example Mg powder treated with iron sulfate heptahydrate solution, at ratio of hexagonal BN to addition 75:25, content of cubic BN 4.4 to 22.0%, and granularity 80/63. Blend is then exposed to high pressure and temperature in the region of thermodynamic stability of cubic BN. ^ EFFECT: increased yield of cubic boron nitride by 6-28% and increased content of crystals with a narrow granularity range (1-3 adjoining granularities) to 40-56%. ^ 1 tbl, 7 ex
