Zusammenfassung:	FIELD: pipeline engineering. ^ SUBSTANCE: heat insulation butt joint has metal casing, which embraces the butt and is mounted symmetrically with respect to the center of the butt, polyurethane foam filling the space between the inner side of the metal casing, outer side of the pipelines to be joined, and faces of the heat insulating material of the pipelines, and polymeric cover made of thermoshrinking cloth provided with the glue layer, which is applied on the metal casing. The method includes preliminary setting of the metal casing around the butt, filling the space to be insulated with polyurethane, and activating the surface of the butt by heating it with the flame of a gas burner up to 90-100oC. ^ EFFECT: improved heat insulation. ^ 12 cl, 5 dwg
