SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of supplying low carbon steel containing manganese and sulfur into mold; drawing billet out of mold; cooling billet in secondary cooling zones by feeding water at sides of large radius and small radius of curvilinear type casting machine; determining density of sprinkling with water for secondary cooling zones at side of large and small radius according to relation where , -specific water flow rates for all secondary cooling zones of continuous casting machine at side of large- and small radius respectively, cub. m /sq. m x h; I - degree of axial looseness of billet, points; R - distance from surface of billet at side of large radius of casting machine until boundary of mutual closing of heat fronts in cross section of billet, m; (R - r) - shifting of heat front relative to geometry center of cross section of billet, m; [Mn],[S],[C] -percentage content of manganese, sulfur and carbon in steel,%; V - speed of billet drawing out of mold, m/min.
