Zusammenfassung:FIELD: cracking catalysts. SUBSTANCE: preparation of catalyst comprises mixing water suspension of zeolite Y in its ammonium form or rare-earth metal cation- ammonium form with (i) alumina aqueous suspension containing no more than 85% alpha-Al2O3 and 10-20% theta-Al2O3, and (ii) sodium silicate and aluminum sulfate solutions. Catalyst granules are then formed in column with mineral oil. Granules are activated by ammonium sulfate and then by mixed rare-earth element nitrates, washed to remove salts, dried, and calcined under atmosphere of flue gases and water steam to give catalyst with loose density 800 kg/cu. m. EFFECT: increased strength of catalyst (above 15 kg/ball), increased catalytic activity, and reduced shrinkage and splitting of catalyst. 1 tbl, 5 ex
