Trans-3,4- dialkyltetrahydrothiophenes are prepared by interaction of 1-ethyl-trans-3,4-dialkylalumacyclopentanes with thionyl chloride SOCl2 in the mole ratio 1-ethyl-trans-3,4-dialkylalumacyclopentanes : SOCl2 = 10 : (10-14) in hexane solution at temperature 40 C for 6-8 h.
