SUBSTANCE: process for manufacturing sealed isotope source of californium-252 base fission fragments includes following procedures: substrate is covered with gold layer, 0.9-1.1 mcg/sq. cm thick, its diameter being equal to that of active spot whereon radio-chemically pure californium-252 is deposited in the form of droplet and then with sealing nickel layer upon droplet drying out. Sealed source of fission fragments manufactured in this way has energy spectrum of fragments separated into heavy and light groups at minimal consumption of fissionable material.
