Zusammenfassung:FIELD: inorganic materials technology. SUBSTANCE: blend for vollastonite designed for use as filler in building materials, paints, high-strength cement mortar as well as in plastics, paper, etc. is prepared by dispersing diatomite and chalk in soda- silicate solution at solids-to-liquid ratio 1: (3-4) and CaO/SiO2 molar ratio 0.9:1.25, stirring suspension at 5-40 C for 10-15 min, separating liquid phase, washing solid phase, and adding vollastonite seeds. Blend is further dried at 100-105 C and fired for 30 min at 1000-1050 C to yield vollastonite containing impurity elements (iron, aluminum, magnesium, etc.) less than 3%.
