Zusammenfassung: | FIELD: non-ferrous metallurgy, namely electrolytical production of magnesium. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of measuring working temperature of sample and plotting curve of electrolyte cooling at determining liquidus temperature of electrolyte; determining magnesium chloride content according to given formula c = C0-((Tl-Tl.0)/K) where C - content of magnesium chloride, %; Co - content of magnesium chloride at liquidus temperature of electrolyte taken for reference point, %; Tl - liquidus temperature of electrolyte, degrees; K coefficient determined according to triple diagram of meltability KCl - NaCl - MgCl2 depending upon relations KCl : NaCl and corresponding to dependance of liquidus temperature of electrolyte upon content of magnesium chloride, degrees/%. Apparatus for performing the method includes sampler, thermocouple, electronic unit for analysis of rate of electrolyte sample, indicating dial and autonomous power source. Thermocouple is arranged in sampler and it is connected with electronic unit that is connected with indicating dial and with autonomous power source. Electronic unit and indicating dial are placed in the same housing. Invention allows to determine content of magnesium chloride in electrolyte 3 - 5 minute later after sampling.
