CUTTING PLATE USED IN LATHE FOR TURNING RIM OF RAILWAY ROAD WHEEL AND METHOD FOR MAKING SUCH PLATE

FIELD: turning of shaped portion of rims of railway road wheels. SUBSTANCE: cutting plate is in the form of polyhedron with two mutually opposite front surfaces and it has cutting edges for rough and finish working. Cutting edges for finishing are arranged on one front surface along long side of plate or on both front surfaces in ends of diagonal of polyhedron or two cutting edges for finishing are arranged on long side of plate and third cutting edge is arranged on end of diagonal of polyhedron passing from one of two first edges. Method for making cutting plate comprises steps of pouring powder mixture into cavity of lower die and moving upper and lower punches in said cavity; at process of molding cutting plate using punches having different relief on their end surfaces; orienting punches one relative to another according to position of said relief in dependence upon arrangement of cutting edges for finishing.
