Zusammenfassung:nonferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: carnallite and solution or suspension of magnesium, potassium, sodium, and calcium chlorides is fed into the first heater cell, weight ratio of magnesium chloride introduced with carnallite to magnesium chloride introduced with solution varying between 1 to 20 and molar ratio of potassium chloride to magnesium chloride in solutions varying between 0.5 and 1.0. Suspension fed into the first cell contains carnallite and magnesium, potassium, sodium, and calcium chlorides with molar ratio of potassium chloride to magnesium chloride from 0.7 to 1.3. Solution or suspension are preheated to 30-110 C and dehydration of carnallite and solution or suspension in the first cell is conducted at temperature no higher than 140 C, which allows product with water level at least 15% to be obtained. Dehydration of magnesium chloride charging feed is continued in subsequent heater cells operated with gaseous heat carrier, which is supplemented by 1 to 7 vol % hydrogen chloride. EFFECT: reduced hydrolysis- caused loss of product. 7 cl, 5 ex
