SUBSTANCE: invention may be used, for instance, in heterogeneous-catalytic processes in manufacture of packed rectification columns of oil processing, in devices for turbulization of material flows, in neutralizers of exhaust gases of internal combustion engines, catalytic purification of hydrogen in power systems based on fuel cells. Cellular-frame metal material includes discrete bulk wire members with turn contour in the form of oval and/or n-angle with n>3, and/or flat spiral-wire members with multiple connections in contact zones. In this case, density of material is 0.4-1.5 g/cu.cm with fully accessible internal surface. Method of material production includes production of discrete spiral members by winding of wire on core, compaction by vibration with flexible compression and heat treatment in nonoxidizing gas atmosphere. EFFECT: increased assortment of manufactured articles, reduced anisotropic properties, produced strong material without through pores. 8 cl, 2 dwg, 2 tbl, 2 ex
