Zusammenfassung:chemical treatment of metals. SUBSTANCE: invention provides a method for applying protective coatings onto metallic products that can be used in manufacture of high-strength articles from double-phase (alpha+beta) titanium alloys. Oxalatization process involves preliminary activation in solution containing hydrofluoric acid (50-100 ml/l) and nitric acid (400-600 ml/l) at 20-25 C for 10-15 min followed by washing in cold running water. After that, products are subjected to double treatment with aqueous oxalic acid solution (10-16 g/l) while removing oxalate film after each treatment by washing with running water at 40- 50 C and further treating products in activation solution. Products are then immersed in oxalatization solution containing, g/l: oxalic acid 10-16, monoferrous oxalate 12-14, potassium dichromate 5-6, sodium fluoride 10-12 and acid sodium fluoride 10-12. treatment is carried out for 10-15 min at 70-75 C followed by washing in running water at 40-50 C and treatment in soap solution.
