agricultural engineering. SUBSTANCE: apparatus has electromagnetic pulse emitter and receiver, which are arranged on header dividers forward of and at the level of cutterbar. In case of occurrence of strange object above the level of cutterbar surface, electromagnetic pulses issued from emitter to receiver are interrupted and signal is generated and delivered to actuating mechanism, which provides raising of header to the level, at which electromagnetic pulse delivery is restored and passage of dangerous area at higher level of soil layer is effected. Cutterbar is then lowered to initial position. Emitter and receiver are separated from cutterbar by distance of: S = V . t, where V is working speed of farm machine; t is actuating mechanism initiation period beginning from signal delivery time. EFFECT: increased efficiency and reliable protection of cutterbar from breakage. 3 dwg
