SUBSTANCE: invention refers to methods of timely measurement of concentration of hydrogen in mixture of such gases as nitrogen and oxygen or in air of undetermined concentration, explosive concentrations included. Concentration of hydrogen is determined by intensity of luminescence of nitrogen caused by action of ionizing flux of alpha particles and depended on concentrations of hydrogen and oxygen. Concentration of oxygen is measured simultaneously by independent method to account for effect of oxygen on luminescence of nitrogen. Device has gas chamber with optical window, light filter, photodetector. Source of alpha radiation to excite mixture of gases, pressure transducer, temperature-sensitive element and sensor determining concentration of oxygen are installed in chamber.
