SUBSTANCE: in order to determine life expectancy of high-power pressurized-tube reactor (type RBMK) clearance between process channel and graphite stack is measured by measuring metal temperature through channel thickness; to this end, changes in ultrasonic signal velocity as function of metal temperature variations are measured. EFFECT: enhanced measurement accuracy, reduced time required for taking measurements.
