METHOD FOR MACHINE ENGRAVING OF IMAGE ON METAL

SUBSTANCE: the method consists in cutting-in of the cutting tool with a V-shaped sharpening, formation of the image contour at reciprocating motion of the cutting tool in the transversal (relative to its axis) direction and withdrawal of the tool, cutting-in of the cutting tool and its withdrawal are accomplished by axial feed of the cutting tool, and cutting-in and formation of the image contour are carried out stage by stage by multiple repetition of the above operations, in each stage cutting-in is accomplished to a depth of 0.5 to 1.5 mum with subsequent formation of the image contour, and a round- section cutting tool with a V-shaped sharpening within 117 to 120 deg made of diamond is used.
