SUBSTANCE: regulator designed for connection at low-voltage end of substation main transformer has two frequency changers 1 and 2 with high-frequency step- down transformer in-between. Frequency changer 1 functions to raise frequency in proportion to line frequency and has DC voltage section built around controllable reversible rectifier and voltage inverter. Frequency changer 2 is used to reduce frequency to line frequency; it is, essentially, naturally commutated six/three-phase neutral cycloconverter. Device provides for pulse-width regulation of auxiliary voltage in three subranges by means of neutral cycloconverter and amplitude control in each subrange with aid of reversible rectifier. On-load voltage regulation is effected by means of reversible rectifier responding to supply voltage deviation and by neutral cycloconverter responding to load voltage deviation.
