SUBSTANCE: method comprises catalytic hydrogenolysis of carbon- carbon bonds of cyclopropane rings of binor-S in the presence of heterogeneous catalyst comprising 30-60 wt % of nickel at hydrogen pressure of 50-300 atm, temperature of 150-300 C for 20-70 hours. Hydrogenation under mild conditions (160-180 C at H2, 60 hours) promotes preferable formation of hexacyclic skeleton hydrocarbons C14H18 and more rigid conditions (270 C, at H2, 60 hours) promote complete hydrogenation of binor-S to prepare pentacyclic skeleton hydrocarbons of general formula C14H20.
