SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method of synthesis of steric hindranced bis-phenols used as effective stabilizing agents for organic substances. 2,2'-Methylene-bis-(4-methyl-6-tert.- -butylphenol) is synthesized by delakylation of 2,6-di-tert. - -butyl-4-methylphenol at heating in the presence of arylsulfo-acid catalyst followed by condensation of dealkylate with methylal in the presence of N, N-dimethyl-(3,5-di-tert. -butyl- -4-hydroxybenzyl)-amine (Mannich base). Mole ratio of arylsulfo-acid : Mannich base = 1.00 : (0.01-0.50). Method provides the selectivity of conversion of 4-methyl-2,6-di-tert.-butylphenol as 99.1-99.7%.
