SUBSTANCE: in order to increase initial velocities of pistol cartridge bullets and attain stable and high performance of shot cartridges, invention suggests using powder with grain length to diameter of 1.4-1.6, initial specific grain surface of 70-100 sq.cm/g, retarding layer thickness of 0.85-2.55 mcm, content of components being as follows, wt.%: diphenylamine, 0.80- 2.00; sodium bicarbonate or carbonate or potassium nitrate, 0.01-0.40; dibutyl phthalate, 0.20-1.40; graphite, 0.40-0.90; volatiles, 0.50-2.50; nitrocellulose containing 209.0-210.5 ml of NO/g.
