SUBSTANCE: method involving preparation of homogeneous chitosan solution, alkali agent-assisted isolation of chitosan, interaction of resulting chitosan suspension with succinic anhydride, neutralization of mixture, and drying of searched product is distinguished by that treatment of chitosan is carried out until medium pH attains 6.9-7.5, chitosan is rendered amorphous by exposing its aqueous suspension to cavitation or mechanical field with shear effect, succinic anhydride is used in the form of powder with particle size no larger than 100 mcm, neutralization is carried out with alkali solution, and final product is isolated by spray or sublimation drying with no organic solvents involved.
