Zusammenfassung: | FIELD: weaponry, mainly methods and mechanisms for scavenging of small-bore 4.5-5.7-mm small arms barrel by round powder gases so as to prevent its damage in field conditions. SUBSTANCE: the method consists in scavenging of the rifled bore by powder gases of bullet ahead of it through gas passages. The gas passages are made in the form of helical ducts. The gas passages communicate with the rifles on one side, and with the front slope of the chamber - on the other side. The length of the helical ducts is selected depending on the bullet length, the width of the helical ducts does not exceed width br of the rifles, and the depth of the helical ducts is selected within (5-15) hr, where hr - the depth of the standard rifles. Besides, the device design provides for making the helical ducts integral with the standard rifles; to this end, at a definite length from the bullet chamber the rifles are made with ducts of a larger depth than the standard depth of the ducts of the rifles.
