Combination of subcompensated and decompensated metabolic acidosis in blood (pH being less than 7.35, BE being greater than " - " 2.7 mole/l, HCO3 being less than 21 mole/l, pCO2 being between 44 and 32 mm of mercury column and less) with gastric fluid acidity being increased (pH being less than 1.5), enables acute ulceration in gastroduodenal zone of digestive tract to be predicted.
