Zusammenfassung: | FIELD: arc welding in atmosphere of protective gases with consumable and nonconsumable electrodes. SUBSTANCE: several gases or their mixtures are supplied by pulses. Gas or gas mixture with ionization potential differing from potential of ionization of gas or mixture of previous pulse is used in each subsequent pulse. Arc gap is changed periodically in step with pulses of supply of gases. While welding small thicknesses arc gap is increased in period of supply of protective gas or mixture with enhanced ionization potential. Arc gap is decreased in period of supply of protective gas or mixture with diminished ionization potential. Arc gap is diminished while welding great thicknesses in period of supply of protective gas or mixture with enhanced ionization potential. Arc gap is enlarged in period of supply of protective gas or mixture with decreased ionization potential. Change of composition of gas atmosphere in arc gap makes it feasible to control formation of weld and depth of penetration and to improve quality of welded joints.
