Zusammenfassung:FIELD: abrasive materials. SUBSTANCE: invention focuses on abrasive powders with crystal size 0.2 to 2 mcm based on aluminum oxide and oxides of 3d-metals, namely Cr, Fe, Ti, V and other used when polishing and finishing surfaces of high-precision metal, glass, and stone objects to confer minimum surface roughness on them and achieve highest precision degree in respect to size and geometry. Manufacturing procedure includes preparing charge from aluminum hydroxide, in particular, hydrargillite, and iron-containing raw material (ferrous and ferric salts, oxides, or oxyhydroxides), mechanically activating charge at 20 to 275 C for 10 to 200 min on ball, vibration, and planetary mills, and calcining charge at 900- 1300 C. Final product contains 90.0-99.9 wt % aluminum oxide and 10.0-0.1 wt % ferrous oxide. EFFECT: improved polishing capability and improved environmental safety. 4 cl, 1 tbl
