ARRANGEMENT FOR CHANGING PRESS TOOLS OF COGGING PRESS

The appts. to change the press tools (7), in a compression press to reduce the width of rolled material and especially hot slabs in a roughing train, has a mobile trolley near the press tools (7) with a lifting frame (20) and lifting drive (21) for a holder (22) to carry the tool (7). A further trolley has a laying section (24,25) to hold the tool (7). - Pref. the mobile trolley travels on rails along the rolling stands. The tool holder (22) is raised and lowered through the window of the stand (6) to and from the press tool (7), by the lifting drive (21) of the lifting frame (20). The carrier trolley (23) travels on rails at right angles to the rolling stands (6). The rails for the trolley are on the longitudinal beams (6) of the stand, and the rails for the carrier trolley (23) are attached to cross beams secured to the long beams. Both trolleys are moved (42,47) by remote control, pref. by a piston/cylinder unit with a double pressure action, each mounted to its appropriate beam (6,46). The lifting drive (21) for the lifting frame (20) is held in a roller guide (29,30) at the mobile trolley. The lifting drive (21) has pref. a hydraulic motor (35) with a gearing and a pulse counter and a coupling (34) to a shaft (31) mounted in pillow blocks (33), with at least one pinion (32) meshing with a rack (36) fixed to the lifting frame (20).
