Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a method for the prophylaxis or treatment of cardiovascular, cardiopulmonary, pulmonary or renal diseases, achieved by the improvement of endothelial function and the protection of organs, tissues and vessels when indications require a blood pressure check and a lipid level check, especially in patients that have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus or if prediabetes is suspected. Said method is also used for preventing diabetes and prediabetes and for the treatment of metabolic syndrome and insulin resistance in patients with normal blood pressure. Said method involves the common administration of effective quantities of telmisartan or a polymorph or salt thereof and atorvastatin. The invention also relates to suitable pharmaceutical compositions, containing telmisartan or a polymorph or salt thereof and atorvastatin, as a combined preparation for simultaneous, separate or sequential use in the prophylaxis or treatment of said diseases. Postupak uopšteno uključuje primenu delotvornih količina telmisartana ili njegovog polimorfa ili njegove soli i atorvastatina. Pronalazak se dalje odnosi na odgovarajuće farmaceutske kompozicije koje sadrže telmisartan ili njegov polimorf ili njegovu so i atorvastatin, kao kombinovani preparat za istovremenu, odvojenu ili uzastopnu primenu u prevenciji ili lečenju ovih oboljenja.
