Zusammenfassung:Catalyst for the oxidative chlorination of ethylene to 1,2-dichloroethane, consists of 4-21 wt% Cucl2, 2-12% KCl and 67-94 wt% synthetic microspherical aluminosilicate with a particle size of is not >400 mu m and a specific surface of 200-500 m2/g. The catalysts are simpler in composition and cheaper than known catalysts for this process without reduction in activity or selectivity. The catalyst may contain >10 wt%, esp. 18 wt%, zeolite. The process is pref. carried out in a fluidized bed of the catalyst at 250-320 degrees C and a pressure of 1-7 atmos.
