Zusammenfassung:The invention relates to a process for finishing waste water discharged from municipal sewage treatment plants, which is polluted with waste plastics with dimensions ranging between 1 μm and 5 mm. According to the invention, the process consists of the following steps: preliminary fragmentation of the microplastics present in the wastewater previously treated by conventional processes under the action of oxidative agents, adsorption of the remaining free radicals on active carbon, intermediate storage of the effluent enriched with biodegradable organic substances, its pre-conditioning with aerobic active sludge and adjustment of the proportion of nutrients while observing the C:N:P ratio of 100:5:1 required for microbial mass growth, sterilization of the pre-conditioning effluent and aerobic biological degradation with biomass immobilized on solid supports, adapted for degradation of polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP) and polystyrene (PS), gravitational settling of excess biomass with recycling, to result in a qualitatively biologically treated effluent with a degradation efficiency for PET of 80...85%, for PE of 60...73%, for PP of 64...71% and for PS of 68...81%.
