The invention relates to an electric press for making small parallelepipedal bales of vegetable materials, to be used especially for animal feed. According to the invention, the press comprises a pressing chamber (1) provided with a limiter (A), mounted on a frame (2), a feed chute (3) having a movable wall (10), a pressing piston (4) provided with a knife (12) and with side guides (13), actuated by means of a connecting rod-crank mechanism (5), by means of an assembled axle (6) by a gear motor (7) controlled from a starter (8), a protection system consisting of two guards (9) fixed in the upper and lower part of the frame (2), a system consisting of traction springs (11) for ensuring the density of the bales and a system (14 ) with a rosette-like member which transmits signals to an inductive sensor (15) connected to a digital counter (16).
