Zusammenfassung:The invention relates to a method and an installation for decontaminating granular food products using ultraviolet light UV, with applications in food industry and, in particular, for processing granular food products, such as cereals, in milling industry, or spices, as grains. According to the invention, the method consists in entraining the granular food products into motion, so as to be treated with UV light allover their surface. The installation, as claimed by the invention, consists of a working chamber (106) the interior walls of which are coated with a UV light-reflecting material, inside the chamber (106) there being an oscillating-vibrating device (102) provided with an electric entraining system, with some UV lamps (110) mounted inside a case (103) and fixed, through the metal plate (104), at the end of the threaded rods (107) which are mounted at the top, the position of which can be changed by means of the wing nuts (108) for variation of the distance between the UV lamps (110) and the granular material, i.e. the variation of the UV light dose absorbed by the micoorganisms.
