Zusammenfassung: | The invention relates to a process for enhancing the antimicrobial activity of gentamicin. According to the invention, the process consists in selectively removing the gentamicin C, as the component having the lowest biological activity, from the solution resulting from biosynthesis, by the reactive extraction of a gentamicin-containing aqueous solution, in a ratio of 1:1, balanced to a pH value = 8 with di-chloro-methane containing 1...6% di(2-ethylhexyl)phosphoric acid, at a temperature of 25°C while stirring vigorously for 1 min, followed by separation and re-extraction of the gentamicins Cand Cof the organic phase, in a ratio of 1:1, with an aqueous solution of sulphuric acid in a concentration of 0.2...1.1%, at a temperature of 25°C, while stirring vigorously for 1 min.
