Zusammenfassung: | The invention relates to a pigment meant for manufacturing gas discharge tubes for illuminated advertising signs and to a process for preparing the same. According to the invention, the pigment consists of 70...90% cerium-activated yttrium aluminate and 10...30% europium/terbium-activated yttrium tantalate. The claimed process comprises the calcination of a mixture containing cesium fluoride, yttrium oxide, cerium nitrate and boehmite as powder, at the temperature of 1200...1450°C, for 2...4 hours, thereby resulting cerium-activated yttrium aluminate to be mixed with yttrium tantalate obtained by calcination of a mixture of yttrium oxide, tantalum oxide, terbium oxide and europium oxide, at the temperature of 1200...1450°C, for 2...4 hours, finally resulting a product exhibiting a yellow-orange luminescence when exposed to ultraviolet rays of a wave length of 254 nm. |
