Zusammenfassung:The invention relates to a filtration vessel and a process for a compression system with a rotary gas compressor. According to the invention, the vessel comprises a vertically arranged housing (41) having an inlet orifice (43), a vortex collision region (45) located within a lower region (47) of the housing (41) and communicating with the inlet orifice (43), utilizing uniform circular motion to impose a centrifugal force on gas and liquids entering the housing (41), the centrifugal force acting to separate relatively heavy fluids from relatively light fluids, a vertically arranged down-comer pipe (53) centrally located within the housing (41), a homogenizing region (67) located above the vortex collision region (45) within the housing (41) containing a plurality of homogenizing filtering elements (69) and communicating with the vortex collision region (45) by means of the down-comer pipe (53) for receiving relatively heavy fluids separated in the vortex collision region and for separating any liquids remaining in the fluids and an outlet from the housing (41), for receiving and discharging the filtered fluids. According to the invention, in a first step, the process consists in receiving a low pressure gas stream into a rotary screw compressor, compressing the low pressure gas stream by means of a rotary screw compressor while lubricating the compressor with a lubricant to thereby create a compressed gas/oil mixture ; separating the compressed gas/oil mixture recirculating the separated lubricant back to the rotary screw compressor and discharging the compressed gas from the filtration vessel.
