According to the invention, the process consists of the reaction of sulphonation of naphthalene with concentrated sulphuric acid, at a molar ratio naphthalene:sulphuric acid of 1:0.8...1.in the presence of sodium sulphate as a catalyst which is present in an amount of 1...15% by weight in relation to the naphthalene, followed by the alkaline melting of 2-naphthalene sulphonic acid in reaction with the sodium hydroxide, in the presence of sodium oleate or naphthenate prepared in situ in the reaction mass, which is present in an amount of 0...1% by weight in relation to the 2-naphthalene sulphonic acid, using a mineral oil having the initial boiling point of 325A C, a viscosity of 56.4cSt at a temperature of 40A C and a density of 0.892 g/cm3 at 15A C as an organic solvent, in the presence of the nitrogen as a rare gas, the isolated raw 2-naphthalenol being then subjected to distillation and being rendered oxidation stable by admixing hydrazine sulphate in an amount of 0.2...1% by weight in relation to the final product. Invenţia se referă la un procedeu de obţinere a 2-naftalenolului. Procedeul conform invenţiei constă în reacţia de sulfonare a naftalinei cu acid sulfuric concentrat, la un raport molar naftalină:acid sulfuric de 1:0,8...1, în prezenţa sulfatului de sodiu, drept catalizator, aflat în cantitate de 1...15% în greutate faţă de naftalină, urmată de topirea alcalină a acidului 2-naftalensulfonic prin reacţie cu hidroxidul de sodiu, în prezenţă de oleat sau naftenat de sodiu preparat in situ în masa de reacţie, aflat în cantitate de 0...1% în greutate faţă de acidul 2-naftalensulfonic, utilizând, ca solvent organic, ulei mineral cu punct de fierbere iniţial 325°C, viscozitate 56,4 cSt, la 40°C ?i densitate 0,892 g/cm3, la 15°C, drept mediu de reacţie, în prezenţa azotului ca gaz inert, după care 2-naftalenolul brut izolat se supune distilării ?i se stabilizează la oxidare prin adăugare de sulfat de hidrazină, în cantitate de 0,2...1% în greutate faţă de produsul finit.
