Independent claims are also included for: (1) an activated material containing alkaline earth metal carbonate and/or alkaline earth metal hydroxide, for absorbing sulfur oxides and/or other pollutants during dry flue gas purification, prepared by the above method; and (2) use of the activated material containing alkaline earth metal carbonate and/or alkaline earth metal hydroxide for absorbing sulfur oxides and/or other pollutants during dry flue gas purification.
