THE PREPARATION OF ROD-LIKE SMOKING PRODUCTS

The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing rod-like smoking products on a drum machine in the tobacco processing industry. The rod-like smoking products are successively transverselyarranged in receiving pits of rotary conveying drums of a conveying assembly used for transversely transferring the rod-like products, and are conveyed transversely in a plurality of conveying sections through rotation of the rotary conveying drums. The rod-like products are transversely conveyed, in the first conveying section, on at least one rotary conveying drum at a first transverse intervalamong the rod-like products, and then are conveyed in a second conveying section provided with a first cutting device, wherein when or after the rod-like products are transferred from the first conveying section to the second conveying section, the transverse interval among the rod-like products increases or decreases. The rod-like products in the second conveying section are cut into a pluralityof products, particularly two or three article rod sections, by utilizing a first cutting device in the second conveying section, and the article rod sections are then conveyed to another rotary conveying drum of the conveying assembly.
