The metallic binder is a Co-Ru alloy and the hard material particles are formed at least predominantly by tungsten carbide, having an average grain size of the tungsten carbide of 0.1-1.2 μm. The cemented hard material has a (Co+Ru) content of 5-17% by weight of the cemented hard material, a Ru content of 6 16% by weight of the (Co+Ru) content, a Cr content of 2-7.5% by weight of the (Co+Ru) content, a content of Ti, Ta and/or Nb of in each case
