METHOD FOR CLASSIFYING A VEHICLE

The invention proceeds from a method for classifying a vehicle (2), in which an image (8) of the vehicle (2) is recorded (6), characteristic image features are established (12) from the image (8), the characteristic image features are compared (20) to features from a vehicle database (16), said vehicle database containing a multiplicity of descriptions of various vehicle classes containing characteristic features, and the recorded vehicle (2) is assigned (26) to a vehicle class described in the vehicle database (16). In order to enable a quick classification, it is proposed that key points in the image (8) of the vehicle (2) are established (12) as characteristic image features and at least one multi-dimensional vehicle descriptor is established for each key point.
