Zusammenfassung:	A transmission for the power-train of a rail vehicle, in which the transmission (3) includes an input shaft (4), an intermediate shaft (5) and a drive output shaft (6). The input shaft (4) can be connected so as to be driven by a drive motor (2), and the drive output shaft (6) forms a wheelset shaft of the rail vehicle. The transmission (3) has at least two selectively shiftable transmission stages with different transmission ratios for the same travel direction, and a shifting device (7) for engaging the transmission stages. Furthermore, a power-train for a rail vehicle having a transmission of such type is proposed.
