Zusammenfassung:A cutting insert has polygonal first and second end surfaces which are connected by a peripheral side surface, each end surface defining first and second end planes, respectively. The peripheral side surface has first peripheral side portions alternated in the circumferential direction with second peripheral side portions. The first peripheral side portions are inverse copies of the second peripheral side portions. Each peripheral side portion includes first and second sub-faces which form different angles with the first and second end planes. The first and second sub-faces intersect one another between the first and second end planes to form a line which is parallel to the first and second end planes.
