Zusammenfassung:	The device has a tub (1) for cleaning goods to be cleaned, and a tank (2) for intermediate storage of process water discharged from the tub. A controller (3) conveys the process water from the tub to the tank and feeds the process water from the tank back to the tub in a cleaning channel, where the goods to be cleaned are provided in the channel. A gas sensor (12) detects gases e.g. ammonia, hydrogen sulfide and methane, discharged from the process water stored in the tank. The controller controls a water treatment device (9) depending on a signal of the gas sensor.
