Zusammenfassung: | The glass, rich in lead oxide, is made by continuous floating on a bath (4) of a molten metal such as tin in an installation operating with a neutral gas atmosphere that contains less than 5 vpm (volumes per million) of oxygen, and is basically of nitrogen. The temperature of the molten metal bath is lower than that used for floating lead-free silica- alkali-lime glass, with the glass being at a temperature of between 500 and 800[deg]C. The bath has an associated molten metal treatment station, and before the floating installation the glass is melted in an oven containing at least one immersed burner. |
