METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING AMMONIUM SULPHATE

1. Method of producing ammonium sulphate from gaseous ammonia and sulphuric acid, involving the absorption of gaseous ammonia in pure form or mixed with other gases in an aqueous solution containing a suspension of melamine and melamine sulphate, characterized in that pure gaseous ammonia or ammonia mixed with other gases is absorbed using a mixture in the form of an aqueous solution of ammonium sulphate containing a suspension of melamine and melamine sulphate, and next the obtained post-absorption mixture is regenerated by supplying a solution of sulphuric acid, melamine and possibly water in quantities which ensure that the pH of the mixture is maintained in the range 5.0-8.0, while part of the obtained post-reaction mixture is returned to the absorption process as a circulating mixture, and the remainder is sent to a separation process, where a clear solution of ammonium sulphate is separated from the suspension of melamine and melamine sulphate, and the separated precipitate is returned to the process.
