1385648 Compositions containing hydralazine MERCK & CO INC 1 March 1973 [6 March 1972] 9979/73 Heading A5B A pharmaceutical composition comprises hydralazine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof and a #-adrenergic blocking agent of the formula: (including its optically active isomers) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, where R is H or a halogen atom or an alkyl, alkenyl, carbamoyl, alkyl carbamoyl, alkoxy, cycloalkyl, phenyl, aralkyl, alkyl thio alkyl, alkoxy alkyl, phenyl thio alkyl, phenoxy alkyl, aziridinyl, azetidinyl, pyrrolidinyl, piperidinyl, hexahydroazepino, morpholino, piperidino, thiazolidinyl, p-thiazinyl, or piperazinyl radical, a substituted phenyl or aralkyl radical in which the substituent(s) is or are on the benzene ring and is or are halogen, C 1-3 alkyl and/or C 1-3 alkoxy; or a substituted phenylthio alkyl or phenoxy alkyl radical in which the substituent(s) is or are on the phenyl ring and is or are halogen, hydroxy, alkyl and/or alkoxy; and R 2 is an alkyl alkenyl, substituted alkyl in which the substituent(s) is or are hydroxy or halogen, alkynyl, carboxyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, di (C 1-3 alkyl) amino, pyrrolidinyl, piperazinyl, morpholino, thiazolidinyl or thiazinyl radical.
