MECHANICAL CARROT WASHER

The developed mechanical carrot washer is comprised of frame assembly, tumbler assembly, cover and washer assembly and gear motor assembly featuring the capability of washing root crops (tubers) more particularly carrot in a continuous action in single operation. Also, it is capable of washing any size and condition (with or without stem) of different root crop. The invention has an output capacity of 300 kg/hr of carrots and 1000kg/hr of potato. The cleaning action was attained through the rotation of the tumbler and spraying of water into the tubers inside the tumbler. Water consumption was reduced because of the controlled water coming out from the spray nozzles secured along the pressure pipe. Cleaned carrots are slowly transferred from entry to exit of the tumbler through a winding rope and catched by a plastic crate. The flow of tubers coming out from the tumbler was controlled using a mechanical jack attached to the stand with adjustable height.
